Backstreet Boys Concert & Star Ceremony

I’m a 90’s kid. If I say I don’t know who the Backstreet Boys are, that means I’m either lying or I’ve been living under a rock. I’m not a super big fan of the whole boyband scene, but then, I’m also not a hater. I appreciate talent. These guys can sing. They can sing while dancing. They produce beautiful harmony together. They may not be the “cool” or the “badass” guys (however society perceives the meaning of these words) but their musical and artistic skills are worth showcasing to the world.

I’ve been lucky to see them twice these past months. This one was shot just this past Wednesday at The Grove:

Backstreet Boys Concert

This was part of The Grove’s Summer Concert Series. They were promoting their new album, “In A World Like This.” The place was fully packed, I’ve read reports saying there were 20,000 people who were present during that night.

They performed songs from their new album, including “Madeleine,” “In A World Like This,” and “Safest Place To Hide.” They finished strong singing their hit “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)” as the crowd sang along. The Backstreet Boys are definitely back!

*More photos from their live performance here, including the opening number by Megan Nicole.*

I was also present for their Walk of Fame Induction Ceremony last April and boy, was it one of the craziest ceremonies I’ve been to! The event format itself was no different from other WOF inductions, but the crowd here was tenfold! I can say that the demographic was 90% females, ages 15-30, which was also how it was during the concert above. There was no performance here, but the organizers of the event were nice enough to play Backstreet Boys hits as the crowd anxiously awaits for their appearance. I found myself singing along to the tunes of “I Want It That Way,” “Shape of My Heart,” “As Long As You Love Me,” and many more. The funny part was that this 60-something year old man beside me also sang along, and he knew the lyrics better than me!

The guys teased the crowd by peaking through the roof top, taking some Instagram photos. I’m sure you can imagine how wild the crowd went.

The ceremony was started, as usual, by Hollywood Chamber of Commerce CEO Leron Gubler. Lucky fan Lori Meono and music producer/songwriter Max Martin gave the opening speech.

The guys gave a speech one by one, getting more and more emotional as it went by. Here is the full video, courtesy of the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

I can say that even if I’m not a BSB diehard, I’m still very happy to see them. They reminded me of my grade school and high school days. They reminded me of the good times I had with my classmates. They made me reminisce about the experiences I had back in the glory days of boy bands. Thank you, Backstreet Boys! I’m excited for your new album!

Victoria’s Secret Angels on Extra

Victoria's Secret Angels

Back at The Grove. It’s not even summer yet but this day was so hot! And it’s not because of the sun, it’s because two of the Victoria’s Secret Angels were here!

Okay to be honest, I didn’t know much about the who’s who in the supermodel world so this was  my initiation.

Alessandra Ambrosio. Wow. This woman’s got “gorgeous” written all over her. She’s got this wild look that makes you feel like she’s gonna eat you alive. In  a very sexy way, that is.

Alessandra Ambrosio

Candice Swanepoel. She DOES look like an angel who descended from the heavens. She’s my favorite from now on.

Candice Swanepoel

There was a little bit of a swimsuit fashion show as well. Thank you, Extra!

And thanks to Contactmusic.com for this photo. I’m the guy wearing green on the left. It’s pretty cool that we’re all wearing shades. Yay! We got something in common! Haha.

November 13, 2012 Celebrity Sighting: Will Ferrell

Will Ferrell

Happy to see Will Ferrell this morning! The mustached version, that is. I recently saw him during the premiere of The Campaign with Zach Galifianakis. He kinda disappeared from my view really quickly on that one but this time I got to see him a lot longer. He is just one of Extra‘s guests for today. Other guests are:

Dancing with The Stars duo Cheryl Burke and Emmitt Smitt;

Star of Arrow, Katie Cassidy;

Actor and also a DWTS alum, J.R. Martinez;

and Singer Kylie Minogue.

Some more pics of mustached Will:

I just love the ‘stache. Can’t wait for Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues!

And before I leave, here’s a short video of a TMZ guy asking Will Ferrell some questions… and then running out of questions.

Taylor Kinney guests on “Extra”

Taylor Kinney

I stopped by The Grove this morning so I can catch a glimpse of Hayden Panettiere, the scheduled guest for Extra today. The good news is that I saw her right away as soon I got there, the bad news is that I was too slow to get my camera from my bag! I wasn’t very worried during that time because I knew she will show up again after the interview (which was held indoors), but she didn’t! Or maybe she did, I just missed her. Uggghhh. Anyways, she looked really cute in person. And tiny (I think that makes her super cute?).

My stay there didn’t go down the drain, thankfully, as Taylor Kinney showed up! Okay honestly, I didn’t know anything about him until this morning but I’ve done my research and I know now that he is one of the main casts of the TV series Chicago Fire, appeared in The Vampire Diaries as Mason Lockwood,  and he’s also popular for his role as Glenn Morrison in Trauma.

I think you will recognize him easier though if I say that he’s Lady Gaga‘s current boyfriend. Lady Gaga, you’re one lucky lucky girl.

Extra Presents: The Voice

Extra The Voice

The Extra taping last night was extra special! The judges and hosts of the TV show The Voice all showed up and boy was the place jam packed!

Do you want to see the photos?! Let me here ya!!!

Applause

Here’s Mario Lopez to welcome everyone to the show

Mario Lopez

And co-host Renee Bargh went on to the stage to join him

Renee Bargh

It’s  a bit of a wait before the guests arrived so Chunky (that guy above holding the “applause” sign) entertained the crowd in the meantime. It was a lot of fun hearing his non-sense jokes! Lots of freebies were given to the crowd as well, like T-shirts and cardboard cutouts of the judges’ heads. Guess who’s head was the most in demand?! *I’m at a payphone trying to call home, all of my change I spent on you…* yep… Adam Levine! Even guys were asking for it. I was one of them haha. Moving on…

Hosts Carson Daly and Christina Milian were the first to hit the stage…

Then the judges…

Here’s singer-songwriter, rapper, record producer, and actor, Cee Lo Green!!!

One of the best-selling music artists of all time, Christina Aguilera!!!

Winner of this year’s CMA Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, and Song of the Year for “Over You”,  Blake Shelton!!!

And last but not the least… my favorite, but before anything, let me tell you the cons of watching a live TV show taping. Compared to a concert or any stage performances where you see the performers in full view, a TV show taping will give you a harder time seeing the people on stage since most of the camera men and their equipment will be blocking your sight. Remember, it’s TV-first, live audience-second. Unless you get a really good spot then you will have no problem but for most of the audience, having the crew’s backs blocking your photos is pretty common.

Okay back to my judges’ introduction. This guy doesn’t really need one. Arguably the sexiest male vocalist of this era, Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine!!!

Adam Levine

And he’s on a hole haha. You’re asking what the hell is up with that picture?! Well, that’s the cameraman’s back, the tripod and some other crew member’s body blocking my shot! I just photoshopped it a bit to make it look somewhat artistic. It does pass as “artistic”, right?! I uploaded the hi-res photo, just click on it and save on your computer. Make it your Adam Levine-On-A-Hole desktop wallpaper haha.

Some lucky audience members were brought to the stage to ask them questions. There were some singing as well where the judges had to choose from four contestants which one they liked the most.

Extra Audience

Now here’s all of them with Mario Lopez. Photo was taken from the big screen…

The Voice on Extra

You can tell they were all having a good time, especially Adam who wasn’t able to control himself from laughing!

By the way, R&B Singer Usher and Latin Pop Goddess Shakira will be temporarily replacing Cee Lo and Christina Aguilera for Season 4 of The Voice, which is scheduled to air in the spring of 2012. They will then return for Season 5.

That’s all folks!
