Orlando Bloom was honored with a star at the Hollywood Walk of Fame today. He is star #2521. Guest speakers were actor Forest Whitaker, who starred alongside Mr. Bloom in the movie “Zulu,” and director David Leveaux. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer was also spotted in the crowd.
Orlando may be the man of the hour but it was his little boy, Flynn, who took the spotlight. He was with his dad the whole time he was speaking, never wanted to part. The little toddler was so cute he was able to entertain the crowd with his mere presence. His mom, Victoria’s Secret supermodel and Mr. Bloom’s former wife, Miranda Kerr, was not around for this ceremony though I wished she was.
I was really happy to be a part of this, as this man appeared in three of my favorite movies of all time: Troy, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Lord of The Rings. If there’s anybody in this industry who can bear the nickname “Epic,” it’s none other than Orlando Bloom.
I’m a 90’s kid. If I say I don’t know who the Backstreet Boys are, that means I’m either lying or I’ve been living under a rock. I’m not a super big fan of the whole boyband scene, but then, I’m also not a hater. I appreciate talent. These guys can sing. They can sing while dancing. They produce beautiful harmony together. They may not be the “cool” or the “badass” guys (however society perceives the meaning of these words) but their musical and artistic skills are worth showcasing to the world.
I’ve been lucky to see them twice these past months. This one was shot just this past Wednesday at The Grove:
This was part of The Grove’s Summer Concert Series. They were promoting their new album, “In A World Like This.” The place was fully packed, I’ve read reports saying there were 20,000 people who were present during that night.
They performed songs from their new album, including “Madeleine,” “In A World Like This,” and “Safest Place To Hide.” They finished strong singing their hit “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)” as the crowd sang along. The Backstreet Boys are definitely back!
I was also present for their Walk of Fame Induction Ceremony last April and boy, was it one of the craziest ceremonies I’ve been to! The event format itself was no different from other WOF inductions, but the crowd here was tenfold! I can say that the demographic was 90% females, ages 15-30, which was also how it was during the concert above. There was no performance here, but the organizers of the event were nice enough to play Backstreet Boys hits as the crowd anxiously awaits for their appearance. I found myself singing along to the tunes of “I Want It That Way,” “Shape of My Heart,” “As Long As You Love Me,” and many more. The funny part was that this 60-something year old man beside me also sang along, and he knew the lyrics better than me!
The guys teased the crowd by peaking through the roof top, taking some Instagram photos. I’m sure you can imagine how wild the crowd went.
The guys gave a speech one by one, getting more and more emotional as it went by. Here is the full video, courtesy of the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
*More photos uploaded on Facebook.*
I can say that even if I’m not a BSB diehard, I’m still very happy to see them. They reminded me of my grade school and high school days. They reminded me of the good times I had with my classmates. They made me reminisce about the experiences I had back in the glory days of boy bands. Thank you, Backstreet Boys! I’m excited for your new album!
Hugh Jackman received star number 2,487 in the streets of Hollywood yesterday and it was a great experience seeing him in person! Les Misérables director Tom Hooper was in attendance, as well as castmates Anne Hathaway and Amanda Seyfried. The Tonight Show Host Jay Leno was the guest speaker.
And now, here are the photos!
The freshly polished star. This photo was taken around 8:30 am, before the crowd arrived and the ceremony started. The guys have just finished working on it and it’s ready to be unveiled later during the day. I didn’t wanna wait for that, I was too excited. Might as well take a picture before everyone else does, and while it’s still shiny!
The ceremony was held in front of Madame Tussauds, and they were nice enough to put out a wax figure of Wolverine outside to match the occasion.
As expected, news teams and fans from Australia made their presence felt. Aussie Aussie Aussie, Oi Oi Oi!!!
The stars have arrived!
Ladies and Gentlemen, Mr. Walk of Famer, Hugh Jackman! He’s greeted by the warm cheers from the crowd and warm hugs from his loved ones and friends from the industry, including Anne Hathaway.
Academy Award Winning Director Tom Hooper sat beside Anne Hathaway. He’s most known for his work on The King’s Speech.
Guest speaker Jay Leno took the stage…
…and went on to give him a big hug.
Hugh was given the certificate.
All eyes on this super good looking man now.
Here’s his speech courtesy of CELEBScom:
His exclusive photographer:
That’s his daughter, Ava. She’s already a better photographer than me.
He posed with his wife, Deborra-Lee Furness.
Photo op with cast mates!
For Les Mis fans, the caption can also be Fantine, Jean Valjean, & Cosette!
After the ceremonies were interviews here and there. Here’s one with his fellow Aussie, Renee Bargh from Extra.
Before I end this post, please check out the trailer for Les Misérables:
It opens December 25, 2012.
For those who want to visit his star, it’s on 6931 Hollywood Blvd, right in front of Madame Tussauds.
Congratulations, Hugh Jackman!
Congratulations to Señor Javier Bardem for receiving the 2,484th Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame! We have an international cast for this induction ceremony: We have Mr. Bardem who is from Spain; director of Skyfall and guest speaker Sam Mendes is from England; then the two new Bond Girls in attendance are Berenice Marlohe from France and Naomie Harris from England. I was kinda hoping to see Javier’s wife and fellow Spaniard, Penelope Cruz as well but it was said that she was busy filming during this event. One more person I wanted to see: Daniel Craig! It’s a long shot but hey, they’re promoting Skyfall at the same time so who knows?
The first one to arrive was Skyfall Director, Sam Mendes. He went on to sign some autograph for the fans.
And then there was Naomie Harris.
Her face looked familiar even if I’ve never seen or heard about her before. Then I realized she was Tia Dalma from Pirates of the Caribbean, one of my favorite movies of all time! Wow, I’m an idiot haha. She sure looked different without the dreadlocks and the black lips!
Berenice Marlohe then came at the same time as Javier Bardem. I gotta say, this new Bond Girl stole the show! She was so GORGEOUS in person! I think I’m in love!
It’s funny because I saw some photographers taking more pictures of her than Javier Bardem. It’s like, “Ah I already got my shot of him, I’ll now focus on the things that interest me.”
And in this photo, all she did was hold on to that post and smile and voila! An instant high fashion shoot for the photographers!
The ceremony started and Sam Mendes took the stage. Part of the speech was about Javier dyeing his hair blonde for the new Bond movie, then entering the set and nobody recognizing him. I checked the trailer again today, he does look different! I think I dig the darker hair though. What do you think?
The guys then shared a big hug.
Javier Bardem Time!
Here’s his speech courtesy of Hollwood Walk of Fame:
The star was unveiled and then photo op galore again!
Haha look at that. Sam Mendes looks like he’s saying “oooh yeah I’m touching Naomie’s tummy!”
At this point I just badly wanted to have a picture with the super beautiful Berenice Marlohe. I was worried I wasn’t going to get one because she was on the other side but then she got closer and closer until she was on our side! Woohoo! Some stupid guy from the press with his iPad kept blocking my sight of her (for Christ’s sake, please don’t shoot with your iPad when you got people behind you!) but then when I called her she did respond and I finally got a picture with her!
She asked me if my camera was working because it didn’t flash. I said, “hmm let me see…” then I checked the LCD and yup it worked just fine and I showed it to her. We smiled together. Aww. We shared a moment. An even bigger story is that our faces were literally five inches away while we were exchanging words. In my fantasy we were already French kissing haha. I wish it happened in real life!
She got back to me after some time and we had another photo. This time, I had my flash on.
One photo means it’s a photo op, two photos means we’re close. Now we’re close. I’ll call her Berber from now on.
And finally, the man of the hour went to my side and there ya go, a new movie poster for 007:
For those of you who would like to visit Javier Bardem‘s star, it’s located at 6834 Hollywood Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90028, right in front of the El Capitan Theatre.
John Cusack got his Hollywood Walk of Fame Star on the 24th of April, 2012. He is star number 2,469. This is a super late post so I’ll just try to recall all the things that happened that day through these pictures haha.
Lots of people attended as usual. Always the case with Hollywood A-Listers. John was promoting a new movie called The Raven (where he plays Edgar Allan Poe) during that time and so one of the guests in this star ceremony was a raven. Cool, isn’t it? It wasn’t billed as a guest speaker though, maybe it was a bit shy. The guest speakers that were announced were his sister, Joan Cusack and his close friend Jack Black. I would’ve attended here even if there are no other famous stars as long as I see John, but what a big bonus it was to see Po from Kung Fu Panda and Jessie from Toy Story!
I love Jack Black’s look on this one. He actually had that facial expression the whole time. Badass Jack haha.
Joan Cusack was really nice, just looked a bit older in person. I’m sorry Joan! It’s just a bit! Like a few months. Seriously! She’s a really really good actress though!
It’s sometimes nice to have a guest list that doesn’t reveal everything for there’s the element of surprise in it. For this instance, I was lucky to see Billy Bob Thornton! He just appeared out of nowhere!
Maybe his name was actually written on the guest speakers list and I just didn’t see it, but that doesn’t matter. The surprise made a bigger impact.
Dan Aykroyd also appeared out of nowhere! Maybe there were ghosts present and he had to do some ghost busting?
John finally stepped on the stage and gave his speech. I didn’t really get to listen that much. I kept saying to myself, “gosh, this man is so good looking. Why don’t I look like him?”
He was then given the certificate by the City of Los Angeles declaring this day As John Cusack Day in Hollywood.
Congratulations to John Cusack on having his name immortalized on the streets of Hollywood! For those of you who would like to see his star, it’s located right in front of Larry Edmund’s Bookshop on 644 Hollywood Boulevard Los Angeles, CA 90028.
As all of you guys probably know by now, Slash got a star at the Hollywood Walk of Fame just this summer. The ceremony was a bit different from the other ceremonies I’ve been to, one, because there were so many people and majority were wearing black (rock on baby!), and two, because there was a free concert inside the Hard Rock Cafe after the induction (rock on again, baby!).
Being a self confessed Guns N’ Roses addict, this was not just another event to me. This was THE event! Gn’R has played a major part in my life. I looked up to these guys ever since I was a very young boy and I even did a report on my English class about them in college. The Sweet Child O’ Mine intro was one of the very first riffs I tried to play on the guitar (I play it, you hum the bass line!). I have their 1992 Tokyo concert on DVD that I kept watching (have you noticed they kept running and running and didn’t get tired?! Are they athletes or something?!). I tried to emulate Axl Rose‘s moves when we did our gigs (awful, just awful!). I also have all their songs on my iPod and I never get tired listening to them again and again, especially because Gn’R is my workout music. Welcome to The Jungle is ALWAYS the first thing to play as soon as my feet step on the treadmill. I don’t think there’s anybody in this world who would not get pumped up to that song! Then it goes to It’s So Easy to Night Rain to Outta Get Me to Mr. Brownstone andcso on and ooh yeah I feel it baby I feel it!!! So if there’s anything I could thank them for personally, it will be for providing me my workout enthusiasm!
If you have followed the Gn’R drama then you’re aware about the feud among Axl and Slash and the rest of the band. It’s a long story but to make it simple, wherever there’s a Slash there’s no Axl, and wherever there’s an Axl there’s no Slash. This was a Slash event, so you knew who’s not coming. Somebody with an even bigger ego than Axl was present though, none other than the one with the Adonis DNA, Mr. Tiger Blood himself, Charlie Sheen!
Here’s his hilarious speech:
“You know it’s quite fitting, I think, that Slash is getting a star on the very street that Axl Rose will one day be sleeping on.” -Charlie Sheen
That’s epic. Charlie Sheen rocks!
Slash’s speech was a little more on the emotional side, I think he was trying very hard to keep his tears from flowing the whole time.
Here’s a clip from EyeBiteTV:
Other guest speakers were producer Robert Evans and DJ Jim Ladd. It was amazing to see my idol on that podium. It was also an amazing moment to see Guns N’ Roses, well, at least part of it, together for the first time in person.
Somebody’s really really excited!!! And it so happens to be Charlie!
Of course that picture wouldn’t be complete without the finger.
The star ceremony might have ended there but the event was in no way finished! Live acoustic concert coming up!
I did not bring my DSLR camera for this event, all photos above were taken by my point and shoot cam. It turned out to be a smart idea because if I have brought it then I wouldn’t have been allowed inside!
Slash performed an acoustic set with the man he’s currently collaborating with, Myles Kennedy. He’s the former vocalist of Alter Bridge (they used to be called, uhm, what’s that again, “Creed“, then he replaced Scott Stapp, remember?). He’s also more known to the wrestling world as the guy who sang Edge’s theme song.
They performed new songs like “Back to Cali” and old hits such as “Fall To Pieces” (from Slash’s Velvet Revolver days) and the eternal “Sweet Child O’ Mine.” Steven Adler even made a special appearance in the middle of a performance asking the crowd to clap altogether to the beat, and the hell we did!
This was yet another day I’ll never forget. To Axl Rose, I don’t know if and when you’ll have a star of your own, but I will see you too someday. And I will fanboy like crazy. Coz I’m f**king crazy. Crazy! Congratulations to Slash for receiving the 2,473rd Walk of Fame Star!
