On The Road Red Carpet Premiere

On The Road Movie Poster

Welcome to the AFI Fest 2012! 6 gala premieres in 8 days. Hitchcock premiered last Thursday (Nov. 1), then Life of Pi on Friday, and then On The Road yesterday. I went to the Hitchcock premiere and I got disappointed for not seeing any of their big stars. Anthony Hopkins and the other stars were apparently filming that day while Jessica Biel was on honeymoon. Good for them but what a waste of my time! I wish I was the one she’s on honeymoon with instead haha. I was wondering if any of the stars would show up for this one. I already got the idea that this festival is not taken as seriously by the actors compared to other gala premieres. It’s still nice to be optimistic though. Looking forward to seeing Kristen Stewart! As we all know, The Twilight Saga Breaking Dawn Part 2 is premiering in a couple of days and there’s no hotter names in Hollywood than these Twilight peeps right now.  People from all over the world are now on their way to LA to witness the ensemble hit the red carpet in this one momentous occasion for the very last time. Due to previous commitments, I will not be around for that one so to all of you campers, have fun and enjoy the premiere!

Okay back to On The Road. This film is directed by Walter Salles. Along with Stewart, it also stars Garrett Hedlund, Sam Riley and Amy Adams with Viggo Mortensen and Kirsten Dunst. Here’s the trailer:

I also really wanted to see Viggo Mortensen as I am a big fan of The Lord of The Rings. He was a no show though, as well as Sam Riley and Kirsten Dunst. But I’ll tell you who’s there, the star of the film, Garrett Hedlund!

Let’s see who else. Oh, Amy Adams!

And last one. Whew. I’m just so glad she came! I might miss the Breaking Dawn Part 2 premiere but at least I won’t be missing all of it for here right in front of my very eyes (or camera lens) is Kristen Stewart!!!

That car above that partially blocks the shot, by the way, is an Audi. The official sponsor of the AFI Fest 2012. It will soon be mine. Mwahaha.

For those of you who want to see celebrity arrivals during the AFI Fest, here’s the schedule for the remaining films:

Nov. 4- Rise of The Guardians (Chris Pine, Alec Baldwin, Hugh Jackman, Isla Fisher, Jude Law, et al)

Nov. 5- Rust & Bone (directed by Jacques Audiard starring Marion Cotillard, et al)

Nov. 8- Lincoln (directed by Steven Spielberg starring- Daniel Day-Lewis, Sally Field, Tommy Lee Jones, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, et al)

All of these are to be held in Grauman’s Theater in Hollywood. For more details, please check out http://afifest.afi.com/film-results/galas

Flight Red Carpet Premiere

Flight Movie Poster

We’re here at the Arclight Cinerama Dome in Sunset Blvd and we’re celebrating Denzel Washington Day! Another A-lister we’re adding to our list. The setup here in Arclight is not as crowd friendly as in Grauman’s Chinese Theater but let’s see if we get lucky and get to see Denzel up close.

The last movie I saw him in revolved around a train, this time on a plane. The movie looks promising and I would definitely go see it!

Here’s the trailer:

He was also in a movie called Safe House with Ryan Reynolds just recently but I didn’t go to the premiere of that one so here’s my chance. The film is directed by Academy Award Winning Director Robert Zemeckis and it stars Denzel Washington, John Goodman, Don Cheadle and Melissa Leo.

The carpet was white, not red, so that it matches the theme of the movie. At first I thought that white thing was something that’s supposed to be under the red carpet and they’ll add that later but as time went by I realized that it was the carpet itself. For some reason, I was too worried it will have too many footprints. As if people will take pictures of it. And as if I’m the one cleaning it after. I should get a life. And this paragraph doesn’t have any significance at all. Anyways…

“Alright guys, let’s get started!”

Here’s Rebecca Da Costa. She appeared in the movie Seven Below with Val Kilmer.

Actor/Writer/Producer John Gatins

Justin Martin. He was in High School Musical 3 and played the young version of Jamie Foxx in The Soloist.

Justin Martin

Hmm. Young Jamie Foxx. Could be. I guess.

Bruce Greenwood. He played Pike on Star Trek (2009) and has also worked with Denzel before on the movie Deja Vu. He was also on Eight Below (with Paul Walker). I love that movie. I love Siberian Huskies!

Melissa Leo, she played Alice Ward, Micky (Mark Wahlberg) and Dicky’s (Christian Bale) mom in The Fighter, where she won the Golden Globe, Screen Actor’s Guild Award and Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.

There’s no appearance for John Goodman and Don Cheadle for the night, I wonder why. Not a big deal though and it’s not something I would cry about haha. Frankly I just came here for the great Denzel.

Like I said above, the setup in Arclight is not very crowd friendly because the railings are set in a way that the actors will have no chance of getting out of the red carpet to interact with fans but Bruce Greenwood was nice enough to ask the security personnel to open it up so he can walk towards us.

And yay! I got a picture with him!

Bruce Greenwood

We had a nice chit chat too. He said Denzel won’t be arriving for another hour and I said “an hour?!” and he said he was just kidding and he’ll be there in 15 mins. I said that we really wouldn’t mind if it takes him a whole day, we’ll wait no matter what. Of course I was just kidding too. I don’t have that much patience haha. The picture I took was blurry and he’s not looking at the camera so I asked for another one.

Bruce Greenwood

There. Much better. Thank you so much Bruce!!!

And finally, the main man. I was actually really afraid by this time that I’m not going to get any good shots because a bunch of  media men have flocked in front of me. Not good. All I got from my camera by this time were people’s backs. I still managed to get Denzel though, but just barely. So here it is, ladies and gentlemen, my somewhat voyeuristic photos of Mr. Denzel Washington!

Okay let’s just say I made those “through-the-hole” shots for artistic purposes and let’s leave it at that. I’m an artist, ya know. Haha.

That’s all for tonight folks! See you again on the next premiere!
