Flight Red Carpet Premiere

Flight Movie Poster

We’re here at the Arclight Cinerama Dome in Sunset Blvd and we’re celebrating Denzel Washington Day! Another A-lister we’re adding to our list. The setup here in Arclight is not as crowd friendly as in Grauman’s Chinese Theater but let’s see if we get lucky and get to see Denzel up close.

The last movie I saw him in revolved around a train, this time on a plane. The movie looks promising and I would definitely go see it!

Here’s the trailer:

He was also in a movie called Safe House with Ryan Reynolds just recently but I didn’t go to the premiere of that one so here’s my chance. The film is directed by Academy Award Winning Director Robert Zemeckis and it stars Denzel Washington, John Goodman, Don Cheadle and Melissa Leo.

The carpet was white, not red, so that it matches the theme of the movie. At first I thought that white thing was something that’s supposed to be under the red carpet and they’ll add that later but as time went by I realized that it was the carpet itself. For some reason, I was too worried it will have too many footprints. As if people will take pictures of it. And as if I’m the one cleaning it after. I should get a life. And this paragraph doesn’t have any significance at all. Anyways…

“Alright guys, let’s get started!”

Here’s Rebecca Da Costa. She appeared in the movie Seven Below with Val Kilmer.

Actor/Writer/Producer John Gatins

John Gatins

Justin Martin. He was in High School Musical 3 and played the young version of Jamie Foxx in The Soloist.

Justin Martin

Hmm. Young Jamie Foxx. Could be. I guess.

Bruce Greenwood. He played Pike on Star Trek (2009) and has also worked with Denzel before on the movie Deja Vu. He was also on Eight Below (with Paul Walker). I love that movie. I love Siberian Huskies!

Bruce Greenwood

Kenya Moore

Melissa Leo, she played Alice Ward, Micky (Mark Wahlberg) and Dicky’s (Christian Bale) mom in The Fighter, where she won the Golden Globe, Screen Actor’s Guild Award and Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.

Melissa Leo

There’s no appearance for John Goodman and Don Cheadle for the night, I wonder why. Not a big deal though and it’s not something I would cry about haha. Frankly I just came here for the great Denzel.

Like I said above, the setup in Arclight is not very crowd friendly because the railings are set in a way that the actors will have no chance of getting out of the red carpet to interact with fans but Bruce Greenwood was nice enough to ask the security personnel to open it up so he can walk towards us.

And yay! I got a picture with him!

Bruce Greenwood

We had a nice chit chat too. He said Denzel won’t be arriving for another hour and I said “an hour?!” and he said he was just kidding and he’ll be there in 15 mins. I said that we really wouldn’t mind if it takes him a whole day, we’ll wait no matter what. Of course I was just kidding too. I don’t have that much patience haha. The picture I took was blurry and he’s not looking at the camera so I asked for another one.

Bruce Greenwood

There. Much better. Thank you so much Bruce!!!

And finally, the main man. I was actually really afraid by this time that I’m not going to get any good shots because a bunch of  media men have flocked in front of me. Not good. All I got from my camera by this time were people’s backs. I still managed to get Denzel though, but just barely. So here it is, ladies and gentlemen, my somewhat voyeuristic photos of Mr. Denzel Washington!

Denzel Washington

Okay let’s just say I made those “through-the-hole” shots for artistic purposes and let’s leave it at that. I’m an artist, ya know. Haha.

That’s all for tonight folks! See you again on the next premiere!

Katy Perry: Part of Me 3D Premiere & Concert

Katy Perry

One of the most unforgettable celebrity events I’ve been to. I went to Hollywood on June 26, 2012 knowing that there was going to be a red carpet premiere for this movie. I’ve been to several premieres before so I knew pretty much what to expect. I knew I was going to see Katy Perry this day and perhaps some celebrity guests. When I got there, I was so surprised that there was a huge stage right by Hollywood & Highland. Oh yes! There’s going to be a CONCERT! But is it going to be free? Oh yes it is!!! Now I’m sure this event was promoted several days before, I was just too naive to know but then I guess being unaware has its advantages: you get more surprises!

I met with my friends and we decided to go straight to where the stage was so we can find the best spot. The moment we got there, we got another big surprise: Katy Perry was already there on the stage rehearsing!

Katy Perry

“Whew it’s hot in here!”

We were really near the stage so we saw her up close. They were rehearsing for the whole set they’ll be doing that night so that was a long exposure for her. I even got to roam around and take videos and photos from different angles.

Katy Perry

Katy Perry

That was a lot of fun! Usually, you get to see celebrities only for a really short time and they’re always on the go but this time, I was the one on the go and Katy stayed where she was the whole time. I guess I can say I developed a love for watching rehearsals. Maybe concert promoters should offer fans free entrance to rehearsals every now and then. That is an event in itself! I remember watching an NBA All Star practice and we paid somewhere around $50/ticket for that, all they did was run and practice lay ups. Not a single soul complained.

At this point I can totally go home. I’ve actually already seen who I wanted to see for this day! But then that would be silly. Of course I’ll wait for the real thing!

The setup here was a bit different from the other premieres. The arrivals were still going to be held at Grauman’s Theater but the concert was in front of the H&H Center. That means fans have a choice whether to be on the arrivals area and see some more celebrities like Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Carly Rae Jepsen, etc. or to be on the stage area where they can watch the free concert.

I’ve seen lots of celebrity entrances before, I chose the free concert. That doesn’t happen everyday! And besides, the spot we had wasn’t that bad since the cars passed right by us.

Here are some of the dancers upon arrival.

It was weird because I was just seeing them on stage rehearsing a while ago, and now they look like they just got here!

Oh by the way, this wasn’t really a red carpet premiere but a pink carpet premiere. I didn’t have a picture of the carpet because like I said I was on the concert area but just imagine you’re seeing a pink carpet. There. You’re still well informed haha.

Fast forward to the concert…

Katy Perry

And she came out of a popcorn box!

Sure is the best way to pop out for a pop star! By popping out of a popcorn box! Okay I’ll stop talking now. Enjoy the concert!!! Concert photos, that is.

It was amazing!  She sang her best hits including “I Kissed A Girl”, “Wide Awake”, “California Girls”, “Fireworks”, and of course, “Part of Me” which was also the title of the movie she’s promoting.

And now that I’ve pumped you up with the pictures, I now have a surprise for you: Here’s the full video!!! Go get some popcorn and set your loudspeakers on!

Please don’t forget to watch Katy Perry: Part of Me. Now available on DVD.

The Johnny Depp Experience

Johnny Depp

I’m a very big fan of Johnny Depp. To me, he is the epitome of coolness in Hollywood. I probably won’t be able to explain well on why I think that way but maybe I could say it’s because he is very, very… Johnny Depp. See, I told you I won’t be able to. But really, Johnny Depp in itself is an adjective that is synonymous to “cool.”  I’ve seen many of his films and I got so amazed on how he portrayed characters such as the very well known Cap’n Jack Sparrow, Willy Wonka, Sweeney Todd, The Mad Hatter, and Edward Scissorhands. These are very different characters yet you can easily distinguish their personalities from one another, apart from the costumes of course.  I’ve also seen him on the original TV series 21 Jump Street (just re-runs, as I was just a toddler during the time it was on air) and apart from his extreme good looks I also took notice on how good an actor he was already back then.

I’ve wanted to meet him in person ever since I was a kid.  He’s one of my three super idols (together with Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise)  and I said to myself that someday, I will kiss them all on the lips. Just kidding, I’m a straight male. Not coming out at least in the next three weeks. Ha. In high school, somebody told me while we were on a school dance that I look exactly like Johnny Depp and that’s when my fascination with him really started. I kept checking on the mirror and damn, she was spot on. I really looked like him! Just kidding. She never said that. She did tell me I looked like Johnny though. Johnny Bravo. Anyways, it’s not unusual for a young kid to idolize him. Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of The Black Pearl came out when I was in my freshman year in college and boy was I hooked! It was so good it went straight to my favorite movies of all time list.

Living in LA and being a frequent visitor of Hollywood Blvd, I always see those guys in costumes. My favorite is of course, Cap’n Jack Sparrow! He doesn’t look like Johnny but he does make a good Cap’n Jack. He also has a cute girl who is portraying Angelica walking around with him every time. There’s also one guy who doesn’t dress up as a Johnny Depp character but instead, Johnny Depp himself, wearing casual clothes. It’s cool to have pictures with these guys but just as I want my Levi’s jeans to be original, I want my Johnny Depp to be real!

And so I went to the premiere of Dark Shadows with only one intention in mind: see my super idol and hope to get a picture with him!

As expected, there were so many people in there waiting for him. I got into a bad spot, far away from the spot where they drop the celebrities off,  that I felt a little down that I wasn’t gonna be able to see him up close. It was okay, I said to myself, as long as I get a glimpse of him. The cast of the movie arrived one by one.

I saw Michelle Pfeiffer from afar. Oh damn. She was too far.

I saw Bella Heathcote.

Bella Heathcote

And I saw a couple other actors whose names I didn’t know.

Then there was Tim Burton.

Tim Burton

Tim Burton

It was so nice to see him! He’s collaborated with Johnny so many times (Edward Scissorhands, Sweeney Todd, Corpse Bride, Alice in Wonderland, etc.) it’s impossible mentioning one’s name without the other.

And then it was time for Johnny to arrive. I saw him from afar like the rest. He’s signing for some people from way over the other side, and he’s the size of a peanut on my camera. Oh well, I wasn’t that hard to satisfy. I stepped on the same street as my idol at least for a fraction amount of time and I was happy for that. I was ready to go home to tell this tale to the world but then I noticed something. Johnny Depp has gotten closer and closer! It seemed like he was gonna come to our side after all!

Of course, I want to share my experience with you guys. Enough of the talk. Here’s the moment of all moments, the moment when a super fan finally meets his idol!

Heeere’s JOHNNY!!!!!

I can’t believe it! The fact that I was already convinced that I was only gonna see him from afar but instead we got inches away from each other made it even more spectacular! We got so close I was able to literally feel his breath come out of his nose haha! I stayed a man after that encounter though I gotta admit I was a hair strand away from becoming a Jennifer. Yeah I kinda prepared a girl name for myself just in case.

It was a day I will never forget. Oh Johnny. You da man, man.

I would still like to see him again someday, perhaps in France where he lives and talk to him in straight French.  A bientôt!

End of Watch Red Carpet Premiere

End of Watch Movie Poster

Alright Jake Gyllenhaal fans, now is your day! He’s coming to Hollwood to promote his new movie, End of Watch with co-stars Michael Peña and Anna Kendrick.

***CLICK HERE TO WATCH THE MOVIE TRAILER OF “END OF WATCH”***

This one’s being held at the Regal Cinemas in L.A. Live, this venue is smaller than Grauman’s theater and is  less known to the public. That means there are less people going to the events held here and therefore better chances for a fan to get pictures and autographs with his/her favorite celebrity.  And’ that’s why I love this place! They hold gala premieres here every now and then, and I invite you all to come experience it with us sometime.

End of Watch Movie

Before we get started, let’s clean the red carpet first. There might still be some dog fur in there. My pet husky has been shedding lately…

Red Carpet Cleanin

I think it’s clean now. Alright I’m kinda in a hurry, let’s go straight to the arrivals. Celebs, come on over!

First up, Anna Kendrick.

Anna Kendrick

I love this girl. She looks really sweet and charming. I’ve been seeing her a lot of times lately, it gives the illusion that we’re close friends now even if she doesn’t even know me haha.

She signs and interacts with everyone in the crowd. Thank you, Anna!

Arriving right after Anna is the star of the show, Jake Gyllenhaal!

Jake Gyllenhaal Red Carpet Arrival

And he goes straight to the fans. Here he is as if saying with his eyes, “okayyyy…”

Jake Gyllenhall Signing Autographs

“Jake, can you please sign? Here’s the poster, it’s right on your face so won’t miss it. Thank you Jake!”

Jake’s really nice, signing and taking pictures with everyone. He’s also noticeably grizzly now, I thought I’d see him with a shaved head like in the movie trailer. Expecting bald and seeing super hairy. It’s a bit surprising haha.

Jake Gyllenhaal Signing Autographs

Jake Gyllenhaal

Thanks for the autographs, Jake!

Cody Horn is next. I’ve only seen her on film once before, and that was on Magic Mike which also happens to have premiered here in this exact place!

Cody Horn

She’s so gorgeous in person!

Cody Horn

Cody, those high heels can kill!

Michael Peña arrives shortly after Cody.  Guess what? He will be having a starring role as Cesar E. Chavez in the upcoming movie, Chavez.

There’s a limo coming!

But you know what’s more amazing? It’s the blue streaks of light that I’m getting from my camera. I don’t know how that’s happening there are no blue lights there. Can somebody explain that to me? Any photographers out there? Physicists?  Chemists? Astronauts?

That guy looks familiar… Joe Manganiello

It’s Joe Maganiello! He’s appeared in a lot of movies and TV series but he’s most famous for his works on True Blood. He also appeared on Magic Mike as Big Dick Richie. I got stuck with that name so I think I’ll always call him Big Dick Richie haha.

He’s so tall and buff it would be hard not to nice him even if he’s not an actor!

Joe Manganiello

Remember Steven Hyde from That 70’s show? He’s here! Danny Masterson! He’s also appearing now on the new TV series, Men At Work.

Danny Masterson

I miss that show. That 70’s Show…

Now here’s my favorite picture of the nightFrank Grillo

That’s Frank Grillo. He appeared on movies such as Warrior, The Grey, and Minority Report.  He’s the last one to arrive for the night.

There ya go folks. Please watch End of Watch, on theaters September 21, 2012.

I’m going home now. Bye guys!
Wait! Hold on! Someone’s coming!

I see a Rolls Royce…
